I really meant to do this yesterday, but the weekend was a lot more eventful than usual and everything just kind of fell forward. Good thing it was a shitty week anyway.

A Word From the Big Man
If you’ve been following you know something has to be up with those kinds of positions.
This was your catchphrase? Not anymore it isn’t.
While this is far from the last time we’ll be seeing Kokone, she finally gets taken out for probably the bulk of the remaining year (which really isn’t much). The funny thing is even after this episode the series still isn’t really going anywhere, and we’re still just jumping from fluffy cloud to fluffy cloud. I don’t think I require Aikatsu! to have some ongoing thing all the time, but it definitely feels like they were struggling for arcs to round out the rest of the third year. This week was just kind of mixed between a “Do you like Kokone yet? Too bad because we’re forcing her on you still” and some weird pseudo recap of…well, Kokone. The real truth of the week is it just proved that the staff is really out to expand Madoka’s fanbase even further by making her leech all of it from Kokone. Clever girl.
Final, final, final answer?
Magical Change gets the top spot for consistency. The point is, everything this week was pretty much going nowhere and Jewelpet is the queen of going nowhere this year. And that’s really all there is to it. Jewelpet didn’t do anything it hasn’t done for the past few weeks, and it was the same dumb fun that you’ve come to expect from it. And I do realize it’s summer but there has been a lot of bathing suits and skin in the past few episodes.
This week was basically a mix of things we’ve seen already from both characters it was centered around. Kirara overworks herself, again. And Towa proves that she’s struggling in the real world, again. I think it could have been an interesting episode, but they would have done better to create either new issues for the two to tackle together, or at least not have done the exact same Towa plot the previous week. It wasn’t the worst thing ever but it was far from anything we’ve been seeing.
God help us, we’re in the hands of idols.
To be fair, this week of PriPara was leaps and bounds better than last week, but it was still pretty bad. It kind of echoes back to the episode Aroma and Mirei had way back when except without the charm of being based around a character you actually have background with. Instead, it was to try and sell Fuwari at the very end of the episode and did it pretty damn badly (because Fuwari is just another flawless character). If it just went full gag, then maybe it would have went over a little smoother, but you kind of have to roll with the punches.
Remember that thing I said last week about coming back fresher in the coming week? We’re not saying that ever again.
