Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 2 – Week 13

I should mention that the posting of LGAPR may get a little sketchy over the next two weeks because I’ll be traveling. I’ll try my best to do what I can, but I can’t make any promises as of yet.

Huh, slow news day.

Go figure PriPara would be the show to indirectly mock modern news.

Previous Standings

1) Aikatsu! – 78 Points
2) Go! Princess Precure – 65 Points
3) Jewelpet Magical Change – 53 Points
4) PriPara – 49 Points

You know the standings might start to look really different depending on how the next few weeks go. We might be looking at a really wild turn of the year.

Weekly Point Distribution

1) PriPara – +9 Points
2) Go! Princess Precure – +6 Points
3) Aikatsu! – +3 Points
4) Jewelpet Magical Change – +1 Point

A Word From the Big Man
Don’t worry about it. I don’t think we’ve fallen into a parallel world just yet.

Must suck having your career’s future decided by a grade schooler.

The thing I should point out is that I really did enjoy Aikatsu this week. The truth is that it was just average compared to everything else that ranked above it this week. I praise Aikatsu and Jewelpet often for their consistency, but it’s something that isn’t going to win you any award on certain weeks. There will be times when things will be better, but it’s still the reason that Aikatsu finds itself a top spot more often than not. So, I won’t bang on Aikatsu for being Aikatsu, and it always has those off chances to blow everything else out of the water when it really puts a foot forward. Much like most of the tour (and even the transfer students from last season), Nina was given two episodes to squeeze in some character development. However, she’s prone to a Miyabi/Kokone existence rather than a Nono/Risa one. This week was cute and amusing, and I really have no complaints to throw out. I mean, there’s my natural distaste towards Kansai dialect, but we’ll just leave that on the side.

Hello, little people.

Much like Aikatsu, Precure continues this week going off the buildup of the previous. The difference is, Precure’s buildup was on a much different scale. I really don’t have much to say other than it being a Kirara episode that finally feels like it worked towards something. But it’s generally not the best thing this week because it was also the episode to prove that the lead up to the finale is going to be more of what we’re seeing, character development to awaken the sages and build the rainbow bridge to Gan…Despair’s castle. To me it just creates an image of, “we ran out of ideas” kind of writing. It’s fine that you are doing character development episodes that doesn’t suck, but it’s really boring to watch when you’re only so many episodes out of a finale. Even if Happiness Charge threw out a little too much action in my book, I’d rather have that than nothing at all.

This movie sucks anyway.

Jewelpet this week goes a little bit more back to what you’re used to. It was not any different from the formula last week, but the jokes and execution saw a great improvement. Unfortunately, just doing that wasn’t good enough to beat anything out this week.

Baby maybe you’re wrong, but you know it’s all right.

PriPara this week continues off of the waves that Hibiki’s entrance into PriPara created last week. And the funny thing is, every part of it was great other than Ajimi showing up and Mirei just flat out saying that Lala is a terrible main character. But let’s push those short minutes aside for a moment. Hibiki is a hero. Watching her hammer Fuwari into the ground with a sledgehammer was pretty priceless. There are just those characters that are such big assholes that you have to respect it. And Hibiki is an asshole, that’s just who she is. So making her do some of the most assholish things in one episode is honestly pretty fun. That and the boyish girl meeting girlish boy thing was something that needed to happen. It accomplished absolutely nothing, but we’ll let it slide for the meantime.

Who would have seen this coming? And what kind of holiday shenanigans will be coming up now that the season of jolly is underway?
