Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 2 – Week 27

We’re technically only halfway into March, but there’s so much to get done it’s going to be April the second I turn around. That aside, hopefully I’ll be able to get everything up this week that I want to. A few other things are dying down (luckily) and I’m also not sick anymore. So, if nothing else, it’ll be a more productive week than last.

The blowups.

I’ll stop using MahoPri as the title card once Rico stops giving me great examples of her being garbage at life.

Previous Standings

1) Aikatsu! – 242 Points
2) PriPara – 208 Points
3) Mahou Tsukai Precure! – 156 Points
4) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – 146 Points

At the rate things are going, MahoPri is going to have absolutely no trouble passing PriPara before the second season of LGAPR ends.

Weekly Point Distribution

1) Mahou Tsukai Precure! – +9 Points
2) Aikatsu! – +6 Points
3) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – +3 Points
4) PriPara – +1 Point

A Word From the Big Man
No, I didn’t forget to update the weekly rankings section. We are probably in one of the greatest deadlocks of all time.

Sly little devil.

I guess after looking at this week, they did a fairly good job of organizing the days. Risa kind of needed an episode before the season, and this week they could just put into clumping together the rest of the new generation. But, in reality, this is no better or worse than what we’ve been seeing recently. Starlight Queen Cup was essentially being built up as the final showdown between Akari, Sumire, and Hinaki, so it’s hard to say that anything really matters until those three go up on stage. It was a cute episode, but I was a little ashamed that they didn’t bother to do a new stage for Nono. I know that they wanted to give Risa something special, but it just a little bit of a waste to not take the chance to just let Nono perform an older song. Aikatsu has a huge library to choose from so why not whore it out a little bit?

Please stop getting your stupid on me.

I think this week made it pretty apparent that PriPara ended up overestimating the time it needed to finish this arc. When Lala is being forced to make three different miracles happen before the arc ends, you know that they were having trouble just coming up with a real finale to close things out. I can’t quite say that this week was worse than last week, but if so it was only so much better. And the random and basically instant change of heart that happens to Hibiki in this episode definitely didn’t help things. They could have easily just done episodes over pulling her feelings out of the gutter rather than having her fall into a magical black hole out of nowhere.

Mirai found something better to hug than a teddy bear.

This weeks dives into breaking down Rico’s character a little bit more via a section out of her past. There are still a lot of chains that need to be broken as far as turning her into a super girl, but they probably knocked out a fairly big one this episode. The other nice thing is that even if they did solve a fairly decent complex of hers, they opened up a pretty big door about her character. So I do appreciate that even if they’re going to push Rico along, they’re leaving a lot of crumbs on the path that will eventually lead up to the next instance of her development. I think a lot of Precure character episodes in the past really just flat out end and then you get a new issue in the next one. It is nice to see a character that was created with a clearer development path in mind for once.

How does a mermaid do yoga anyway?

I can’t say I remember every type of Fairilu that’s supposed to exist from the first episode, but I feel like we’re finally getting out of a point where each episode needs to be used to introduce new characters. Farilu is settling in little by little, so hopefully more and more identity will start to show up from this point on. And, yes, I kind of say that every week, but I honestly feel like they’ve gotten a little more comfortable. Just remember that patience is a virtue.

Wrap-Up
Next week for sure is going to be a big episode for Aikatsu (and technically PriPara if it wasn’t struggling for plot), so it’s gonna be a pretty make or break moment. I feel like both have infinitely more potential next week than the actual conclusions that will follow, so it’s that single big chance to knock Precure out of it’s streak. If not, Aikatsu is going to have to pray that Stars can have the same strong start that Precure pulled out. And PriPara will probably just have to pray period.
