Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 2 – Week 36

So after recording for the new radio episode on Friday, I got pulled into helping a friend out with his new project. That not only involved me making a sudden shift to JST, but it all around has kind of distracted me for the past few days. While I do try to put some priority on LGAPR, I know it’s usually alright as long as I get it out before the end of the week

A LGAPR post is never late, nor is it early.

But it’s always stylish.

Previous Standings

1) Aikatsu Stars! – 293 Points
2) PriPara – 229 Points
3) Mahou Tsukai Precure! – 228 Points
4) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – 180 Points

PriPara’s second place finish last week managed to keep it in second overall for one week longer. That one week is now over though.

Weekly Point Distribution

1) Aikatsu Stars! – +9 Points
2) Mahou Tsukai Precure! – +6 Points
3) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – +3 Points
4) PriPara – +1 Point

A Word From the Big Man
So the rankings may look a bit different, but my opinion of the week didn’t go up much from the previous.

Actors are always the crazy ones.

Stars is on top this week because among everything else it at least felt…different? It’s still really hard to tell if they plan to push the romance bill or not in the series. They seem comfortable in tackling the topic head on, but it still feels like something that will never actually come to fruition and is just something the staff wants to play around with. Putting that aside, this episode was supposed to be an introduction episode for Ako. I don’t know how often she’ll show up, but she at least brings something a little different to the cast. And how long she decides to act indifferent towards Yume is a question that will be left to be answered down the line.

Child Rearing ~Mirei ver.~

Fun. Exciting. Child rearing! Still. Yup. I don’t think I need to talk about PriPara when it’s going to be constantly recycling the same ideas for who knows how long. Yes, it’s not Lala. But at this point it doesn’t really matter.

The all important lesson of child neglect.

We’re still not getting off the child rearing thing even in a different show. The reason Precure is way ahead of PriPara in the rankings isn’t because it did it anymore interesting (actually Precure has no rearing, only neglect). It is actually up here because it finally tied Ha-chan into the plot a tiny bit. I don’t know why the villains should be that worried about a fairy that lives in a book, but it’s evidently highly important information. But this could finally be the spark that brings the villains into the picture a little more. Or not.

Bend it like Hopper.

The real mystery of Fairilu this week is how they managed to introduce a really fantastic character into the show without explaining any of his fantastic bits. They seem to really shrug off the fact that Hopper is a star soccer player in the human world despite how little we know about the relationship between the Human and Fairilu worlds. I mean, the only information we were given is that humans are just Fairilu that lost their wings, but I guess as long as you return to your respective world for visits it doesn’t matter. Hopper is just some everyday Fairilu that freely drifts between the two worlds without a single care. So let’s just brush all that off and play some exciting bubble ball.

The time will come where something will rise up and bring a legitimate first place finish back. At least I hope so.
