Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 2 – Week 40

I do apologize for the huge delay on this week’s post. I wouldn’t say it’s been an incredibly busy week, but things here and there sometimes pull you at just the right time from doing other things.

I’m a professional. You see a caterpillar like this? Don’t muck with it.

Danger, danger, danger.

A Word From the Big Man
Nothing may have moved but this week was incredibly competitive. It’s kind of funny how all the shows manage to up the quality at the same time only to let it drop at the same time.

Well, what did you think would happen?

I’m not going to lie, this episode of Stars would have been pretty perfect if it wasn’t for the fact that the Headmaster’s character is still really weird. I understand they wanted to create a more antagonistic character (something that didn’t exist too strongly in the original franchise), but it honestly just feels like he doesn’t fit in half of the time. Every character feels constructive while the Headmaster has a entirely different agenda and somehow wandered into the wrong show. And then you begin to wonder if he’s really all that evil or if he’ll turn into a tremendously disgusting gag character later down the line. Either way, he’s going to show his face during every big trial Yume faces, so I hope he manages to squeeze into the puzzle sooner or later. Otherwise, every Yume episode is going to feel a little awkward.

I honestly just enjoy this facial expression.

Precure usually likes throwing in a mini climax midway into the series, and that’s what we’ve been seeing over the past few episodes. And even though I wouldn’t say they’ve taken as much time as I would have requested to flesh out every character, I’m glad that they finally started giving more personality to a lot of the villains now that they’re playing a bigger role in the story. In general, a lot of what I love right now goes back to the start of the series. The direction, design, and soundtrack all add together to create the proper experience you want from a series that’s supposed to revolve around magic.

Dorothy doesn’t give a shit, why should I?

Honestly, what do you want me to put here guys? If I could award negative points to PriPara I would gladly start doing so at this point.

Shokugeki no Fairilu

Delving away from the weird of last week, Fairilu delved into a different kind of weird this week. Honestly, if Stars was having one of it’s stereotypical weeks, then I would have gladly awarded Fairilu a second place finish. It was a solid pairing of parts, and I really had fun with both the cute and the silly. I honestly don’t know if this kind of episode is the peak of what Fairilu has to offer, but I’m content to say that it competes with it’s predecessor in terms of the average episode.

Wrap-Up
I’m willing to bet that next week will look the exact same as the past few. Or we’ll get lucky and Fairilu and Aikasu will maybe swap places.
