Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 2 – Week 51

Sometimes the rules of LGAPR are so overtly dumb that even I get mixed up from time to time. For example, the season will “end” next week, but that only affects the points resetting to zero and absolutely nothing else. If you’re curious as to why things ended up the way they did, then just remember it’s what happens when you come up with something on the fly.

Deen really made a point of Lip’s thighs, so I thought I would too.

This week is best known as the week that Rilu Rilu Fairilu gained hundreds more viewers.

A Word From the Big Man
Sometimes you’re on the money, and sometimes you’re forced to eat your words.

That Red Bull sponsorship really paid off.

The main trio spends another episode spying on what S4 is doing instead of going out and doing things themselves. This episode actually does absolutely nothing different than what we saw last week, and even the mini lesson the trio receives is actually reinforcing one they’ve gotten before. So not a bad episode but very, very far from a good one.

The look of absolute terror on Mirai’s face is priceless.

So it turns out that carriage is going to serve some purpose, who would have thought such a nonsense episode could be made plot relevant? This week in Precure was really a jump back to the series’ two favorite characters to develop. On one end, Rico returns to her dilemma of how exactly she’ll go on to use her magic expertise. And this obviously means she’ll become a teacher because that’s generally where people like that end up. Jokes aside, the other important end of the spectrum is Kotoha having another identity crisis. The almighty emerald has been doing some pretty wacky things ever since it’s come into the equation, and the purpose it’ll serve against the final boss has yet to be understood. Precure is the one show on the rankings currently closest to ending, so I expect the plot to start really heating up again come Fall.

Fuck you Deen.

So I admit I was afraid of that idol turn for two reasons. One is because the idols we’ve seen so far are the random ones singing the opening, and I was pretty sure this would just be an excuse to force us to listen to that terrible opening twice an episode. Luckily, that wasn’t the case and they gave Lip her own personal song to sing. The other problem was that Deen is one these mysterious studios that drifts between zero to one hundred when it comes to animation (Fairilu being no stranger to that rule). But I guess all that budget they had saved up from doing Ikemenjo Fairilu paid off in spades. Fairilu ultimately gave us a scene that kind of made a fool of a lot of idol anime. Yes, everyone understands it’s just one performance. But when your show isn’t really dedicated to the topic of idols and your audience is primarily children, this scene was kind of overkill. I’m not sure how turning Lip into an idol will help the witch of the woods make her life miserable, but I guess the plot is rolling forward further next episode to help us understand what those plans might be. Whatever the case, Fairilu took a nasty risk this week and ended up coming out on top by doing so.

There was probably a more humorous shot this week, but swimsuit Non.

PriPara tried to backpedal at the end of the episode and do some relationship building between Shion and Mirei. And, even to this moment, I actually have no idea why they did that. This is actually just one of those episodes where they try to throw every kind of paint into the same bucket and hope it comes out as a wonderful color. The problem is once you throw too many colors together you get that ugly shade of brown. This episode is very much that ugly shade of brown. The gags were also abysmal.

Next week brings a close to the second season, and you already know the results because of the point gap. But after that we get to see what a fresh slate can do for some of these shows.
