Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 3 – Week 9

It’s really funny because Precure didn’t air this week, and you’d think that I’d be smart enough to start writing this edition ahead of time because I didn’t have to wait until the weekend. The problem is we also recorded the newest episode of SUAP and that always does a good job of tiring me out for the remainder of the weekend.

What killed the dinosaurs?

THE ICE AGE!

Previous Standings

1) Mahou Tsukai Precure! – 64 Points
2) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – 40 Points
3) Aikatsu Stars! – 36 Points
4) PriPara – 32 Points

Precure is trying to slowly stake it’s claim at the top. That Halloween reward turned out to be really juicy for it.

Weekly Point Distribution

1) Aikatsu Stars! – +9 Points
2) PriPara – +6 Points
3) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – +3 Points
4) Mahou Tsukai Precure! – +1 Point

A Word From the Big Man
I’m happy because even if Precure didn’t air this week, every other show did a really good job of filling in for it.

Super Hero Time was cancelled this week.

So since I have a ton of screenshots from the Halloween episodes, have an angry Kotoha as a placeholder.

Accurate depiction of Fairilu audiences this week.

Chance are even if you paid a ton of attention to the first half of Fairilu, you wouldn’t even remember it. Why you ask? Because the second half of Fairilu was just another one of those Sanrio fueled nightmares. Sometimes it’s really hard to tell who Sanrio anime staff wants to aim their shows at when they make certain episodes. I’m fairly sure that the audience for Fairilu is pretty clear, but episodes like this week really raise some questions about that.

Aikatsu goes daytime hospital drama.

Stars has really bordered around high drama in a lot of episodes, but this is the first week where they really decided to bring the hammer down. Going into it’s second half, it feels like the staff has finally committed to what they want to do with Yume, and I’m fully behind them. Yume’s character has felt really weak so far because she hasn’t felt as driven as any of the other cast members. That’s why even if Rola’s character is often inconsistent, she has an actual rival that you want to see her overcome. Yume on the other hand has generally skated by via her magical idol powers and faced very minor conflict along the way. This week they finally made her powers bite her in the butt and in the worst possible scenario at that.

The nice thing about this episode is that Yume now has a very clear goal that doesn’t just involve the S4. On the other hand, it really makes you wonder what happens with Subaru. They had just put him in a corner and made it really hard for him to approach Yume about her powers (because Yume didn’t even know what was going on). But that cat is out of the bag and running, so it doesn’t really make sense for Subaru to have to shy away from helping out Yume. So I’m not really sure what direction they’re going to take those two after recent events.

Well this is…awkward.

This week of Pripara was built around Non finally forming her team alongside developing Chiri a little bit outside of PriPara. Honestly, PriPara does good character episodes when they actually try, and this was definitely one of those episodes. Non Sugar has a really cute, albeit obnoxious, team dynamic, and I generally hope they don’t fall off too hard in the future. But whatever happens, staff didn’t fuck up the one episode I was waiting for. So I’ll just be thankful for that.

Wrap-Up
It will be interesting to see how next week unfolds given how strong this week was overall.
