Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 3 – Week 33

I’ll be getting to some vacation days soon, so hopefully I’ll get to post things other than LGAPR over the next couple of weeks. Or I’ll just goof off. Probably more of the latter.

It’s almost like the week has an episode title.

A shame that there’s absolutely no drama being made.

Previous Standings

1) Kirakira Precure A La Mode – 276 Points
2) Aikatsu Stars! – 240 Points
3) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – 219 Points
4) Idol Time PriPara – 153 Points

Nothing new.

Weekly Point Distribution

2) Aikatsu Stars! – +6 Points
3) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – +3 Points
4) Idol Time PriPara – +1 Point

A Word From the Big Man
Precure stepped up to Stars this week to show that it’s not falling out of first place without a fight.

Rio and Elza need to have a malicious stare down.

Precure brought in the first real villain of the series this week, and it was all I could have ever asked for. The Precure franchise has been running very dry in the villain department for quite awhile, and it feels like they’ve finally created something notable in Julio. I don’t exactly know how long he’ll remain a villain, but I hope he’ll be given plenty of time to cause trouble on multiple fronts.

This is also the first real major battle that took place in the series, and it looked as good as one would hope. I think the staff really came forward this week to show off that A La Mode doesn’t fall far from the franchise tree and that they’re still out to please as much of the long time audience as they can.

Lily’s physical condition is the greatest mystery of Stars.

I honestly thought this week of Stars would be dedicated entirely to Lily, but it was surprisingly spread across a lot of the main cast. Yume’s struggles to sell her own brand came through as did Rola’s dilemma over getting left behind by her fellow classmates. It really looked like they might settle Rola into a supporting role this year, but it seems like they still had a few tricks up their sleeve to keep her character in the foreground. I don’t think that development will have any major impact on the main story, but I’m not a psychic either. There are potentially a lot of big players in the story this year, and it’s too early to tell where the biggest burdens will fall.

A little too early in life for housewife hair.

This week, Harry and the gang meet the potions master for the first time. And yes, I’m going to do this every time until the staff gives me reason not to. Listen. They had the talking pictures in the hallway too, what do you want me to do? The only real important thing that happened this week is they quickly set Rin on a career path. For a character that was struggling with her dream the previous episode, she sure figured things out quickly.

Yui flaunts more of her rice recipe expertise.

PriPara didn’t do anything too different from last week, and, while it doesn’t bail it out of fourth place, it means the series isn’t hurting itself either. Hopefully things start looking up once it gets out of these introductory episodes for Yui.

Wrap-Up
Not a thrilling week, but it beats a bad one.
