Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 3 – Week 35

The next time to kick my feet up again may be a long ways away, but there will always be little girl anime to watch.

Roaches the Musical

I have certain issues with Fairilu for trying to glorify cockroaches. Or just having cockroaches in the show for that matter.

Previous Standings

1) Kirakira Precure A La Mode – 286 Points
2) Aikatsu Stars! – 249 Points
3) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – 231 Points
4) Idol Time PriPara – 160 Points

PriPara had a good week last week, but it’s going to need a lot more than one good week.

Weekly Point Distribution

1) Kirakira Precure A La Mode – +9 Points
2) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – +6 Points
3) Aikatsu Stars! – +3 Points
4) Idol Time PriPara – +1 Point

A Word From the Big Man
Aikatsu looked like it might dominate the new season, but we’ve had a pleasant amount of rotation over the past few weeks.

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus.

I took a lot of issue with Aoi’s introduction episode because I felt like it offered a very small window into what her character was actually like. This week filled in a lot of holes, and it did a great job of highlighting Aoi’s likable traits all while showing off a different side of her.

Overall, Precure was just flat out enjoyable, and it was the perfect example of a top notch character episode. I just feel bad that Rio got so horrendously thrown into the episode for one gag scene.

Always sit in a chair big enough to fit your ego.

Stars took a few steps back to do more of what we saw from other shows in previous weeks. Most other shows have already ironed out introductions to the new stage for the season, but Stars opted out to instead push out key characters and main plot. But now that Yume, Rola, and Mahiru have all boarded the Venus Ark, there was no escape from showing off the new setting.

So it wasn’t the most exciting episode, and it was mostly propelled by gags revolving around Elza’s tremendous ego. I also don’t know how to feel about the 2P color of Yuri aboard the Venus Ark. It felt like a really uncharacteristic gag, and it wouldn’t be that hard to create a new character on account it’s someone that won’t likely be showing up all that much.

Sleepovers from hell.

Fairilu essentially took what I enjoyed about last week and did it again this week. The only difference this week is that Precure kicked it up a few notches to knock Fairilu down a peg. I was really curious what they would do with Anchusa’s character this season, and I do hope she still plays a more central role as far as the teachers go due to her established relationships with the main cast.

However, I don’t think I got a good idea of what dark magic is from the episode. Anchusa effectively did the first day of class where you teacher does the “getting to know you” games and activities to loosen you up. But I hope they do show off more of her actual lessons because I question what separates dark from regular magic, and why the students need to learn about it in the first place.

You know that Yui has been perfecting that signature for years.

PriPara returns to another non-stop gag reel without any real footing this week. It’s not exactly boring, but it just feels underwhelming when everything else is managing a balance between everything.

Wrap-Up
Precure listened to what I had to say last week and decided that my socks needed blowing off.
