Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 3 – Week 36

I apologize for the long delay, but a bit of computer troubles led to me having to put LGAPR on the back burner. The bright side is that no relevant data was lost in all the hubbub.

Hot guys grow on trees.

I can’t find any other logical explanation as to why they’re always found sitting on tree branches.

A Word From the Big Man
Outside of the lack of change, there was just a unfortunate drop in quality this week.

I feel bad for any mom who was asked to replicate this.

While I thought Precure put out a pretty cute episode this week, I didn’t leave it feeling as impressed as I did last week. The thing that scares me is that Miku can become a real crutch to Akira’s character. As of now, 2/3 of episodes revolving around Akira have been about her relationship with Miku rather than her individual character. Once I start seeing Akira episodes that build her more as an individual I’ll feel safer, but there is a potential future where Miku will be brought in over and over just to give Akira focus.

It was still an enjoyable episode, and it was solidly constructed compared to anything else that aired this week.

This fight will prove nothing. Really.

Mahiru is an odd character to work with right now because she’s really achieved a bit of a peak in terms of development. She suffered from it first season (resolving her conflict with her older sister) and further built on it by surpassing Yozora at the end of the season. So, once again, she really has no clear cut objective to work for. So while it makes sense to introduce a character like Rei as a new rival, it was a very, very vague episode in terms of creating that relationship.

On top of that, they mixed it in with Ako shenanigans. And while I love Ako shenanigans, it really muddled this episode.

I smell a scandal.

Lip’s idol career suddenly kicks into high gear as she goes from zero to famous within a single cut. I hadn’t really imagined they would ever initiate Lip as a full time idol just because it doesn’t really line up. Most episodes last season (and so far this season) are based around classes, so it’s questionable how Lip is doing radio, TV, and photo shoot appearances among everything else. The problem is, it’s hard for Lip to really be an idol without being incredibly scarce in episodes or going full Aikatsu. Neither of these are ever going to happen, so I expect some kind of backtracking very soon.

Welcome to Spring 2017 Sausage Fest.

I was originally going to crack more jokes about PriPara this week, but it was so forgettable that it’s not worth it. Nothing really new happened with Yui and Shougo that we haven’t seen before. It was just a flash episode to show off the male version of PriPara, and it’s hard to say how relevant it will stay when the show gets farther in.

Wrap-Up
Let’s hope for a quick recovery from what plagued this week.
