Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 3 – Week 39

Sometimes patience is rewarded. Sometimes.

Let’s be honest here. This is unrealistic.

No idol is this nice.

Previous Standings

1) Kirakira Precure A La Mode – 319 Points
2) Aikatsu Stars! – 267 Points
3) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – 252 Points
4) Idol Time PriPara – 164 Points

I’m fairly sure Stars isn’t catching Precure before the end of the season, but Fairilu is really making a case for second place.

Weekly Point Distribution

1) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – +9 Points
2) Idol Time PriPara – +6 Points
3) Kirakira Precure A La Mode – +3 Points
4) Aikatsu Stars! – +1 Point

A Word From the Big Man
I feel like we’re really jumping between both ends of the spectrum. For some reason, all shows need to have a bad or good week together.

Precure threw a lot into this week to fill the gap that Julio left. Not only did we see the introduction of Bibury to fill in directly for Julio, but she also mentioned Noire, the supposed larger name behind the scenes. However, Precure has been a bit of a villain matryoshka this year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if even Noire doesn’t land at the end of the chain. The episode also mentioned Ciel, yet another character that will become more relevant next week, but it doesn’t change the fact her first appearance was this week.

But I can appreciate the consistent feel Precure had this week. It still kept it’s usual sense of humor even if the main idea of the episode wasn’t all that entertaining. The other bright side is that Julio is far from out of the picture, and I hope they do keep him in the background for a period before they touch on his character again. They introduced more than enough characters that they really shouldn’t have to worry about re-inserting him into the main story too soon.

That’s it. I’m going fishing.

Stars shifted back this week to a more direct development episode for Yume. What really throws me for a loop this season is that the whole being an idol thing really fell on the back burner somehow. Given how this episode proceeded and ended, it really looks like this season is more about dress design than anything else. It still has a lot more time to do other things, but the fact that every character’s main line of development is tied to their brand says something. The idea of each character being tied to a specific brand has always been something of a simple way to define them, but I’ll wait and see if it can bring anything particularly new to the series.

Werther’s Original.

Despite being the one show to do nothing related to main story, Fairilu somehow managed to come out on top. And that’s not to say that everything else this week was bad, it was just that Fairilu did what it does best. I think the only thing that really bothered me was I don’t feel the second half of the episode was really necessary. Just having body swap shenanigans for the entire episode and Ren eventually reveal that he had known all along (and do some quick fix) would have been perfectly fine. But the second half of the episode did do a lot of cute references to the first season, so it’s not like it was a complete fall off or anything.

Someone looks like they need more hugs.

You know what? I honestly feel bad that I couldn’t give PriPara first place this week. But, at the same time, it dedicated a really great character episode to a minor character. However, this does kind of fall in line with PriPara writing logic. The writing staff has proven again and again it can do great writing, but that writing always seems to fall in the strangest places. It was a well done episode, and that’s all that really matters in regards to judging it.

I had a really hard time ranking things this week, and I do always like having to deeply think over the highs and lows of each episode to determine where to place what.
