Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 3 – Week 42

I’ll be out of town for the first half of next week to attend a couple of events, so a warning in advance that next week’s edition of LGAPR will be rather delayed.

Leaving pets behind for a trip is always painful.

It’s hardly even a week Ako, calm down.

Previous Standings

1) Kirakira Precure A La Mode – 339 Points
2) Aikatsu Stars! – 283 Points
3) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – 270 Points
4) Idol Time PriPara – 174 Points

Stars continues to try and secure that second place position, but that’s the only position that has potential to change before the end of S3.

Weekly Point Distribution

1) Kirakira Precure A La Mode – +9 Points
2) Rilu Rilu Fairilu – +6 Points
3) Aikatsu Stars! – +3 Points
4) Idol Time PriPara – +1 Point

A Word From the Big Man
After a fierce competition for first place last week, there was a fierce competition for fourth this week.

Nobody said dressing like that would be easy.

Precure didn’t really do anything special this week to deserve first, but there was also no other show this week to give it any real competition. This week simply focused on Ciel as a character, and how her and Ichika are more or less two sides of the same coin. I will openly admit that Ichika gets on my nerves more often than not, but it’s that part of her that makes her a polar opposite to Ciel. And assuming the two don’t necessarily change their approaches to things at any point during the season, it works as a good way to develop the characters by having them attack the same problems in their respective ways.

Let’s not make that couple status obvious or anything.

Luckily, the one inconsistent episode writer hasn’t spoiled the whole bunch of Aikatsu Stars, but they sure have done a good job of spoiling Rola’s character. This week was a really good chance to secure Rola a more stable spot as a character you can take more seriously, but it went downhill very quickly. I had mentioned that I was generally excited to see how Tsubasa would pass the torch off to Rola, but it was actually just a gag episode where only the last five minutes or so were really relevant. I don’t know what is with the desire to turn Rola into the poverty Vegeta of Stars, but it something she is never going to escape. There’s a time and place to make fun of Rola, and this was definitely not it.

Precure isn’t the only show that can do useless cooking segments.

Fairilu dedicated the week to Akoya finally obtaining her buddy. However, it wasn’t anything that could really top the consistency of Precure. I wish I could say more, but it was a average episode that just landed where it did because everything else was polarized.

The Bad News Idols.

Despite both of them being terrible gag episodes tied to major story events, PriPara’s story events were marginally less impactful and interesting compared to Stars. Maybe if PriPara hadn’t dedicated two episodes to a miraculously failed baseball scenario it might have escaped fourth again this week.

Wrap-Up
Sometimes I feel like I didn’t end up liking Ako by choice. It’s just the Stars crew has done everything in their power to make it difficult to like Rola.
