Little Girl Anime Power Rankings Season 4 – Week 51

The last week of August is like a last hurrah before the end of the year grind starts, so I was trying to make the best of it by not doing things that felt like work.

Nice…moustache.

Who would win in a fight, Rinka’s dad or Hana’s dad?

Previous Standings

1) Kiratto Pri☆Chan – 369 Points
2) HUGtto! Precure – 345 Points
3) Aikatsu Friends! – 292 Points

It might seem cool because everything broke 300, but it’s a lot easier when you don’t have to worry about a fourth contender for a large chunk of time.

Weekly Point Distribution

1) HUGtto! Precure – +9 Points
2) Aikatsu Friends! – +6 Points
3) Kiratto Pri☆Chan – +3 Points

A Word From the Big Man
It’s nice to have such quality right as LGAPR comes to a close.

Someone sure looks proud of the fact they cheated.

PriChan remains in a fluff state while addressing more summer vacation activities. I’m sure someone out there could try and make an argument that this was a more character focused episode because it revolved entirely around Mirai, but let’s call what it really is. It was a cutesy episode where Mirai could make a new friend and the PriChan staff could find a way to work the group that sings the ending theme into the show.

It was still a fun episode and wasn’t short of entertaining moments, but it would be a stretch to say it did anything on par with the other two shows this week.

Who needs Precure anyway?

Not too long ago we had Precure stumble a bit while trying to create content that could appeal to older audiences, and this week was where they went back and did it correctly. This week of Precure really offered that perfect blend of gags and drama to keep things from feeling too one sided. And, to top it all off, Hana got another episode. I won’t say that it was an outstanding character episode for her, but I think giving your main character a little extra attention isn’t a terrible idea.

It feels like Precure has been firing quite a few shots in the dark with creating the wholesome family episode over the past few weeks, and they finally hit the bulls eye. But at least they managed to hit it eventually.

F is for friends who do stuff together.

Aikatsu didn’t wander too far from the previous week as it returned to ensure that Maika and Ema get proper follow up after losing. It was also the first proper case of role reversal between the two. Ema has always been the backbone when it comes to Honey Cat, and this is the first time where she outright displayed any real sign of weakness. Overall, it was the necessary follow up to the previous week to ensure that Maika and Ema aren’t put into a state of character neglect. And it feels like the staff has become comfortable enough with them as a pair that their episodes can finally start providing a different flavor compared to Aine and Mio.

I’m not sure where the fall competition will take place within the actual season since the season hasn’t even started yet, but there is a potential large margin of time that will need to be filled. So it will be interesting how Aikatsu will commit the time whether it be strongly focused on Mio and Aine, showing Maika and Ema training up, bringing Karen and Mirai more into the story, or potentially establishing Sakuya and Kaguya as the big new rivals for the fall competition. At the least, they really shouldn’t be struggling in the coming season.

Wrap-Up
I might be late, but you know you’re going to miss being disappointed in me.
